History

In 2004, David Thal, President and founder of Green Power Technologies, began studying waste management practices in the United States and Europe. His research focused on an emerging European technology for managing municipal solid waste (“MSW”), first utilized in the United Kingdom. This technology involved what is known as Mechanical Heat Treatment or “autoclaving” of MSW to significantly improve waste recovery rates. In 2005, he began evaluating the economic and environmental feasibility of applying this technology in the United States and Canada. It was during this time he developed a model for a clean-tech waste processing system by integrating proven separation technology with the autoclave process.

In 2007, the vision for Green Power was born and the company’s business development was launched. With a strong management team in place, Green Power Technologies, Inc. was formed in July of 2007. Founded with the vision of providing an economically viable, environmentally sustainable alternative to landfill and incineration of municipal waste, the company selected “Green Choice” as the nameplate for the operating facilities employing this revolutionary waste processing technology.
